THE JOY OF NAPPING

With apologies to Joyce Kilmer, "I think that I shall never see, something so wonderful as a ..nap."
I can sleep on concrete, in the car, sitting up...and much to the dismay of my wife, can fall asleep mid-sentence as we lie in bed, discussing this or that. While it takes her sometimes an hour to hit slumberland, I have already entered into my first REM cycle. This serves me well, since I can also hit the pillow mid-day and knock off an easy hour-hour and a half of downtime. Sometimes the kids are sent up to check my breathing.
Oh, well. Just another one of my many talents...........

Lately I've been trying this. I tie a dark colored bandanna around my head to block all possible light, turn my industrial sized fan up to its optimum speed (No.3) to smuther the sounds of condensed living quarters, and then, before I know it, I'm a log in a coma. This can be dangerous if you're heading to work within the hour, so I rig my cell phone alarm and place it inches from my right ear--rise and shine. Try it, even if you do have functional blinds.

Wow. Those all have two things in common - 1) they can be difficult for me because it takes me awhile to fall asleep 2) they could all get someone in trouble especially the last one.

Nice blog you have starting here. I found it through a comment you posted on my blog: A Catholic Life.
